WATER KILLS, WEED DOESN’T

We are in a crisis of absurd of proportions. Children are dying at an alarming rate in Texas and it is all preventable. There are approximately 9.6 million Texans at risk of instant death in Texas. We MUST protect the children.

On average, every year in Texas, around 110 innocent children die as a direct result of water overdose. That is 0.3 tiny Texans per day. The only sensible thing to do is ban water in Texas. Again I say, we must protect the children.

Adults know the dangers of water. We understand the risks of using water, but children? Children are helpless, hapless, and most at risk of a fatal water overdose, or as the authorities call it, drowning.

Well, most at risk is probably a stretch but when did that ever stop a good story. You see, on average, 352 Texans die every year as the result of water overdose. Of those 110 are children. That means over 240 adults die as a result of water overdose each year.

You keep reading water overdose and you look confused. You see, with each breath you take you inhale water vapor. In small doses, water in the lungs is a good thing. However, when you over do it, it is decidedly bad.

If, for instance, while you are traversing the length of your pool, underwater, you decide to take a deep breath, you will receive an overdose of water. Water overdose is preventable. All we need to do is ban water.

I know, I know, that is profoundly absurd. Here is something else absurd. According to an article in the Texas Tribune cannabis related calls to poison control have exploded since 2019. Of course this is equally absurd, let me explain.

Hemp derived THC known as Delta 8 became legal in Texas in 2019. Instantly, every gas station and convenience store started stocking Delta 8 products. Smoke/Vape shops sprang up like weeds in an untended garden. In 2019 there were 923 THC poison control calls. In 2024 there were 2,592 calls. That is a 495% increase from 2019 to 2024, ALARMING!

However, and you knew there was a however coming, the article begins by saying, and I quote: “Experts say poison control data don’t specify which calls are related to hemp versus more dangerous K2, but show that most THC poisonings cause MINOR side effects. (emphasis is mine) You can read the article in the link below. But keep in mind, minor side effects for Delta 8 vs. instant death for water. https://www.texastribune.org/2025/07/22/texas-marijuana-hemp-data-poison-control-overdose/

The article goes on to say that most cases that go to the hospital are out of an abundance of caution. You know, like shutting down the whole country for a year because of the common cold, abundance of caution.

The article also states that according to this group and that, and the Sherriff’s department, 8 small, helpless children have died as the direct result of THC overdose. However, there’s that however again, the CDC, DEA, and any doctor that didn’t get their degree from MAD Magazine would disagree. There has never been an overdose death directly contributed to THC. But the $15/hr employees at poison control say otherwise.

If we contribute those 8 deaths to THC and by extension to Delta 8 THC, and we choose to ban Delta 8 as a result of the 8 deaths over 6 years, then we should certainly ban water in Texas. Water murders children at a rate of 110 per year. Some in Texas want to ban a product because 1.3 children die per year—allegedly. Nobody wants to ban water which indubitably kills 110 innocent glorious children per year.

The fact is that many Texans, adult Texans, responsibly use Delta 8 for a variety of reasons; recreation, sure, pain relief, of course, anxiety, naturally. Why should these people be forced to seek alternatives for something that is Federally legal? And what are the alternatives you ask? Well, for starters opioids for pain, Xanax for anxiety, Alcohol for recreation, all of which are stone cold killers.

Over 10,000 Texans die every year in non-traffic related deaths as a direct result of alcohol. Nobody is calling for a ban on alcohol. Over 1,000 Texans die every year as a result of opioid overdose. Nobody is calling for the ban of opioids. SSRIs like Xanax result in at least 2 Texans dying every year. Nobody is trying to ban SSRIs. All of them legal, all of them lethal. A total of 0 people die every year as a result of THC overdose, worldwide, yet many in Texas are calling for a ban. The urge to ban Delta 8 is threefold, make that fourfold.

The Stigma

The number one motivator is the THC stigma. Since the 1936 movie Tell Your Children, later rebranded as Reefer Madness, THC in general, and marijuana in particular have been stigmatized. No doctor would ever agree with the claims proffered in that old propaganda piece. Tell Your Children/Reefer Madness was produced by a church group to alert parents of the dangers of Marijuana. (y’all! Our great grandparents were out of control with the Devil’s Lettuce!) It was full of blatant lies and propaganda, but now it plays as a farce.

This film helped to stigmatize THC use. This has created a rift in our society between the THC users and the ban THC bandwagoners. Both sides are patently wrong about almost everything they say. Weed is not the cure all that proponents suggest. It is not blameless, it is not 100% safe, and it certainly isn’t for children. Nevertheless, for many people it is a viable medicine that promotes quality of life.

I myself am a victim of the propaganda and stigma of THC. I believed the hype, I knew it was evil, wicked, sinful and destructive. That is until I saw a video many years ago which changed my mind.

Some poor man with Parkinson’s who couldn’t sit still to save his life, took a toke or two and boom, he was as still as the Sphynx. That is real medicine. There is no commercially produced pharmaceutical that can do that.

But wait there is more. I’m not going to spoil it, but here is a preview. When used responsibly, THC, can be therapeutic. Keep reading and you will see the benefits of THC use. The stigma is waning, but still strong enough to prompt this ban fervor.

Big Pharma

The second urge is Big Pharma. Big Pharma hates marijuana and THC in all forms. If you are managing pain, or anxiety with THC you are fucking Big Pharma. And Big Pharma doesn’t like to be fucked by anyone but Mrs. Big Pharma. (apologies to Pulp Fiction, Marcellus Wallace, and Quentin Tarantino.)

Big Pharma is—pay attention—nothing more than organized crime. Their influence is enormous, they have the cops, judges, district attorneys, Congressmen, Senators, and Lt. Governors on their payroll, not just in Texas, but all over the world. The real Cosa Nostra, the Mafia, are shoplifters by comparison.

The Five Families of Big Pharma have been busy. (apologies to Don Corleone and The Godfather) They have built a global network of drug dealers to peddle their wares. They brutally and without emotion cripple and kill their competition. They influence peddle, bribe, and probably assassinate people. Okay, okay, maybe they don’t assassinate people maybe they do, but it tracks, and they certainly kill people. They make the Corleone’s and the Soprano’s look like rank amateurs. The revenue is in the billions and if you use weed to cure what ails, you are stealing from Big Pharma.

With all those billions you would assume that Big Pharma knows what they are doing. They are responsible for the lives of billions of people, but like the Mafia, they don’t give a damn about their customers well being, only their money.

Over the years Big Pharma has turned out some great drugs that do amazing things. By contrast, they have also produced drugs that belong on a rap sheet. Murderers, cancer givers, addictive drugs, birth defects, all marketed as safe and effective and approved by the FDA. Go tell that to the families of the victims of Big Pharma and their cadre of drug dealers.

Here is a Rap Sheet of some of the worst FDA approved drugs foisted on an unsuspecting public. There are only five listed here out of four hundred sixty-two banned, recalled, and outlawed FDA approved drugs.

Big Liquor

The third urge is Big Liquor. Big Liquor is like Big Pharma, organized crime. You sell a product that kills people, ruins lives, destroys the family, costs society billions of dollars every year, and, as a bonus, you can be killed by alcohol even if you’re a teetotaler. Big Liquor pales in comparison to the power of Big Pharma, but hey, they have judges, cops, presidents, and Lt. Governors too.

Billions of dollars equals millions for lobbying, propaganda, and lies. Alcohol is a killer and we willingly use it and abuse it every day. However, there is that word again, I fully support Big Liquor and Big Pharma in their original pursuits. I do not support the propaganda, lies, and influence they wield over politicians and law enforcement.

I have been in sales most of my adult life. I have left positions because I didn’t believe in the product. I couldn’t imagine representing a product that we know will kill on average 3,000,000 men women and children worldwide every year.

Why do we allow this stuff to be sold? Why is alcohol not banned. We tried that in the 1920s and it didn’t work. People still drank, they still produced and sold liquor, and some of it would make you go blind—literally. The Wild West was a theme park compared to Prohibition.

We already know the risks of prohibiting adults from adulting. Crime, black market, substandard products, but there are hidden risks as well. Humans will not go through life without mind altering substances. If Delta 8 is banned the users are not going to stop. They will import it from other states where it is legal. They will switch to marijuana which is illegal in Texas, or perhaps other illicit drugs. They will look to Big Pharma despite their rap sheet, and play Russian Roulette with a pill bottle. Finally they will drink liquor.

Yes, the old standby. Got the sniffles? A hot toddy will fix you right up. Head hurts from being drunk the night before? Hair of the dog will get you back on track. Feeling depressed? Drown your sorrows pal. Is it a birthday, 4th of July, Christmas? Lord knows we can’t celebrate the birth of Jesus without some brandy infused eggnog.

Liquor is part of our story as humans. Archeologists are quite certain they were making beer at the ancient site of Gobekli Tepe in Turkey 11,000 years ago. The first conflict of the newly formed United States of America is called the Whiskey Rebellion. You can’t go to a concert, sporting event, or a BBQ without a cold brew. People enjoy drinking, but people can enjoy other things as well, legal things like Delta 8. But these narcissistic Big Liquor companies want to be the last mind altering substance standing. Even though they

Big Religion

The final urge is Big Religion. Big Religion rails against THC without knowing anything about THC. At least with Big Pharma and Big Liquor they are trying to protect their consumer base. Big Religion has no reason to even comment on the matter. Now, don’t get me wrong, they are entitled to their opinions and lifestyles, but, stay away from mine!

By Big Religion I mean the mega-church types like Joel Osteen. I use him for convenience not ridicule. I will possibly ridicule him in the future, but for now he is simply expedient.

In the past, I was firmly against use of THC because I was ignorant, like most of us, of the benefits of THC. Yes benefits of THC, including but not limited to: pain relief, appetite stimulation (especially for cancer patients in chemotherapy or people with HIV/AIDS related wasting) it is anti-emetic (helps with puking) muscle spasticity relief, (especially for multiple sclerosis or spinal cord injuries) it is a sleep aid, mood elevator, anxiety reducer and has neuroprotective effects for PTSD, Parkinson’s, and Alzheimer’s.

There are also risks such as: impaired short term memory and coordination, paranoia in high doses, lung irritation if smoked, and of course legal risks.

Compare that to the risks of ibuprofen: stomach irritation, heartburn, dizziness, headache, mild rash or skin reactions. But wait there is more: gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcers, kidney damage, increased risk of heart attack or stroke, liver damage, anaphylactic shock, and of course overdose. Oh and, about 1,900 Texans die every year from ibuprofen, some of those Texans are children. Why have we not banned ibuprofen?

Your pastor, Joel Osteen, will tell you Advil is A-Okay, take it and enjoy the pain relief and kidney damage. But if you touch that evil weed, you are going to Hell sitting in first class on a bullet train. That is if Joel even believes in Hell. Remember it was a church group that made Reefer Madness.

We truly hate the things we don’t understand, and Big Religion understands marketing, putting on a show, rock concerts, and building a following, but they don’t understand human nature, struggles, trials and tribulations. Instead they judge, ridicule, and speak out of school. They make movies like Reefer Madness passing off lies as truth and exposing their hypocritical putrid heart.

Now, make no mistake, I’m a blood bought card carrying born again believer in Jesus without apology. Big Religion wouldn’t recognize Jesus if he sat next to them on their stage with a nametag.

Big Religion hates weed yet knows nothing about it. They view weed in the same light as crack, crank, cocaine and heroin, and it is not. All of those drugs require profound processing. As my old friend and dedicated stoner Dax was fond of saying: “If you can shoot a cow and eat it, you can pick a plant and smoke it.” You do not have to process THC at all. It is naturally occurring no processing needed just a little drying out.

Let me hasten to say, I do not smoke Delta 8 or marijuana and I’m not about to start. I recognize that since 2700 B.C. humans have used THC. 4,700 years ago the Chinese were getting high. In the intervening years THC has been used around the world.

Dan Patrick

The fourth and final problem is Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick. He is firmly in the pocket of Big Pharma, Big Liquor, and Big Religion. He is toeing their line while putting his brain on the shelf. In light of what I have shared here, there is no reason to ban Delta 8 but there are various reasons to ban water, alcohol, and ibuprofen. However, last time I promise, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick doesn’t care about the tiny Texans that die every year from drowning, alcohol, and ibuprofen. Instead, he is playing mob enforcer for Big Pharma, Big Liquor, and Big Religion.

These guys want to ban Delta 8, but remember they also killed off your uncle, niece, and grandma.

A parting thought. THC, according to $15/hr poison control workers, refuted by the CDC and DEA and any real doctor, has killed 8 children in Texas since 2019. Since 2019 water has claimed 2,112 lives, alcohol has over 60,000 non traffic deaths, and opioids clock in at around 6,000 deaths. If Dan Patrick really cared about tiny Texans dying he’d ban pools, outlaw Modelo, recall all ibuprofen, and shut down the sale of opioids in Texas. But Dan, you don’t really care about the children. What you do care about is “support” from Big Pharma, Big Liquor, and Big Religion. I’ll bet if we looked at his political war chest (you know the money) it is littered with donations from all three. Put that in your bong and smoke it Dan!
